Today Only was an heartbreaking read for me. The overall story was enjoyable, although there are some things which bothered me about the book. Personally I believe the falling in love of the main characters went a bit quick for my liking. At the start of the book, we are introduced to Rye, the main character who's facing the fact that she's dying of a tumor. The setting has us in a March of Dimes walk where Rye and her daughter Emily are participating in. We get a glimpse of Emily writing notes to herself as a way to cope with her mothers condition, but this isn't mentioned much more within the book. Emily and Rye run into Jet during the walk and they finish the walk together.

Shortly into the story, Jet and Rye quickly fall in love. I personally feel this was too quick because there were no event which lead up to these feelings. Up to this point, there's hardly any conversation and Jet finds Rye is in a car accident, which from this point on their madly in love.

Other than this, I did find myself holding back tears as the story progressed. I enjoyed reading about the love Rye's family has and the way they looked at life even though Rye was going to pass on. The compassion that was shown throughout the book by each character shows that life is to be lived filled with showing others how much you care about them.

Overall, I highly enjoyed the read and will be looking forward to more works by D. Love. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read a tearjerker that has an overall message to it.
